James A. Houston
James Archibald Houston was a Canadian artist and author born in Toronto on June 12, 1921. After serving in World War II, he traveled to the Canadian Arctic in 1948, lived among the Inuit for 14 years, and promoted Inuit art worldwide, serving as Canada's first civil administrator for the Northwest Territories. He authored numerous children's books featuring Indigenous tales and was appointed Officer of the Order of Canada in 1974.
