james a gillcrist

James Gillcrist is a former U.S. military veteran from a family with a long tradition of service, including West Point and Naval Academy graduates, who served in Iraq and became disillusioned with military strategy, leading him to pursue academia in philosophy and military ethics. He worked as a high school theology and philosophy teacher at Rockhurst, where he was fired in 2024 for challenging students on issues like racism, misogyny, homophobia, and capitalism, as well as for his anti-Trump stance and participation in 2020 Black Lives Matter protests. Currently, he serves as a graduate teaching assistant in philosophy, specializing in just war theory.
