J. Rendel Harris

James Rendel Harris (27 January 1852 – 1 March 1941) was an English biblical scholar, Quaker theologian, and paleographer who served as a curator of manuscripts and was instrumental in reviving Syriac Studies by uncovering many early Syriac Scriptures and documents[1][5]. He held academic positions at Cambridge, Haverford College, and Johns Hopkins, and discovered key texts such as the Syriac Palimpsest of the New Testament at St. Catherine's Monastery on Mount Sinai[1][4].
