J. P. Den Hartog

J. P. Den Hartog (1901-1989) was a Dutch/American mechanical engineer and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at MIT who became an authority on mechanics and vibration. After emigrating to the United States in 1924, he worked at Westinghouse Electric and studied under Stephen P. Timoshenko, eventually earning a doctorate in 1929 and establishing himself as a leading expert in mechanical vibrations.
