J I Packer

James Innell Packer (1926–2020) was an English-born Canadian evangelical theologian, cleric, and writer in the low-church Anglican and Calvinist traditions, best known for his 1973 bestseller Knowing God and as general editor of the English Standard Version Bible.[1][2] Born in Gloucester, England, he studied at Oxford University, was ordained in the Church of England in 1952, and moved to Vancouver in 1979 to teach at Regent College, where he served until his death.[3][5] Packer authored numerous books and was a prominent leader in 20th-century evangelicalism.[4]
