J. Howard Pratt

J. Howard Pratt was a prominent historian for the Town of Gaines, New York, serving over 30 years, active in forming the Orleans County Historical Association, and one of the founding fathers of the Cobblestone Society. Born on August 15, 1889, in Gaines, Orleans County, New York, to John Henry Pratt and Mary Britt Pratt, he worked as a 4-H County Agent in the late 1930s, retired teacher, farmer, and pursued interests in painting, chair caning, and travel. He lived until 1988, remaining engaged in local history into his 90s.
