J. A. Hunter
John Alexander Hunter (1887-1963) was a renowned Scottish professional hunter and safari guide in East Africa, arriving in British East Africa in 1907 or 1908 at age 21. He spent 50 years as a safari guide and government game control agent, hunting over 1,400 elephants and leading expeditions like the Livermore safari into Ngorongoro Crater. Hunter authored 'Hunter: The Adventures of a Game Warden in an Africa Which Is No More' (1952) and built Hunters Lodge hotel in Makindu, Kenya, where he died.
