Irene Bennett Brown
Irene Bennett Brown is an award-winning American author born on January 31, 1932, in Topeka, Kansas, known for her historical novels often set in the Kansas heartland.[1][2] She has written nine young adult novels, including the Spur Award-winning Before the Lark, and ten novels for adults, such as the Nickel Hill series.[2] Living in Oregon's Willamette Valley since age nine with her husband, retired research chemist Robert Ray Brown, she is a member of Western Writers of America and a founding member of Women Writing the West.[3][4]
