International Agency for Research on Cancer
The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is an intergovernmental agency of the World Health Organization, established on 20 May 1965 as the specialized cancer agency of the WHO. Headquartered in Lyon, France, IARC conducts and coordinates research into the causes of cancer, publishes surveillance data on cancer occurrence worldwide, and evaluates carcinogenic hazards through its renowned monographs programme. With membership from 30 countries, it has advanced cancer prevention strategies over its 60 years of operation.
