Jocasta Innes was a British cookery and interior design writer known for her influential books like the Pauper's Cookbook (1971), Pauper's Homemaking Book (1976), and Paint Magic (1981), which popularized affordable DIY decorating techniques such as stippling, sponging, and stencilling.[1][2] She revolutionized homemaking by emphasizing thrifty elegance and lost rural crafts, authored around 60 books, served as home editor for Cosmopolitan magazine, and launched a decorating products business.[2][3] Innes passed away at home in Spitalfields in 2013 at age 78.[1][4]
