Ina Rosenberg Garten is an American television cook and author, best known as the host of the Food Network program Barefoot Contessa. She transitioned from a government job in the White House Office of Management and Budget, where she wrote nuclear energy budgets, to purchasing the Barefoot Contessa specialty food store in Westhampton Beach, New York, in 1978, despite no prior food industry experience. Her career expanded with bestselling cookbooks like The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook and her Food Network debut in 2002.[1][2][3]
