Ian Crofton

Ian Crofton was born in Edinburgh and studied English and American Literature at Rutherford College, University of Kent (1972-1975). He worked for Collins in Glasgow before moving to London, where he has been a freelance writer and editor for over 25 years, formerly serving as editor-in-chief of The Guinness Encyclopaedia. He has authored numerous general reference books and works of popular narrative history, including Science without the Boring Bits, Brewer's Britain and Ireland, World History: 50 Episodes You Really Need to Know, Fringed with Mud and Pearls, and Upland.[1][2][3][6]
