Halsey William Wilson (1868–1954) was an American publisher who founded the H.W. Wilson Company and created essential library reference tools including the Readers' Guide to Periodical Literature, Cumulative Book Index, and Book Review Digest. He began his publishing career while at the University of Minnesota, compiling book lists and indexes that revolutionized librarianship, and relocated his growing business to White Plains, New York, by 1913. In 1999, American Libraries named him one of the 100 most important leaders of the 20th century.
