Howard Dietz

Howard Dietz (1896-1983) was an American lyricist, librettist, and publicist best known for his songwriting partnership with composer Arthur Schwartz, creating hits like 'Dancing in the Dark' and 'That's Entertainment' for Broadway revues.[1][4] He began in advertising and publicity, becoming director for Goldwyn Pictures in 1919 and later MGM, where he contributed to the studio's iconic lion logo, while also writing for shows starting in 1922.[3][4] Dietz served as ASCAP director from 1959-1961 and authored the autobiography Dancing in the Dark in 1974.[2]
