Horace Walpole
Horace Walpole was an English writer, art historian, and politician best known for 'The Castle of Otranto' (1764), widely regarded as the first Gothic novel. Born into a prominent political family, he was the son of Prime Minister Robert Walpole and produced a vast body of correspondence that offers insight into elite Georgian society.
