Hope B. Werness

Hope B. Werness is an art historian specializing in non-Western and modern European art, with a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, an MA from Tulane University, and a PhD from UC Santa Barbara. She has taught at California State University, Stanislaus since 1976 and authored notable works such as 'The Symbolism of Mirrors in Art from Ancient Times to the Present' and 'The Continuum Encyclopedia of Animal Symbolism in World Art.' Her research focuses on symbolism in art, including plants, animals, and native cultures.
