Hines Lambert

Johann Heinrich Lambert was a Swiss-German mathematician, astronomer, physicist, and philosopher born on August 26, 1728, in Mülhausen, Alsace. He is renowned for providing the first rigorous proof that π is irrational in 1768 and for developing the theory of hyperbolic functions. Lambert died on September 25, 1777, in Berlin, Prussia.
