Hilary McKay
Hilary McKay is a British children's author born on June 12, 1959, in England, who studied zoology and botany at the University of St Andrews before working as a chemist and then becoming a full-time writer after her first child.[1][2] Her debut novel, The Exiles (1991), won the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize, and she has since earned multiple awards including the Whitbread (now Costa) Children's Book Award for Saffy's Angel and the Costa Children's Book Award for The Skylarks' War.[1][2][3] She lives in Derbyshire, England, with her husband Kevin McKay and their children.[1][3]
