Hilaire Belloc

Hilaire Belloc was a prolific Anglo-French writer, poet, historian, and political activist born in 1870 in La Celle-Saint-Cloud, France, who became one of the most versatile English literary figures of the early 20th century. A devout Roman Catholic and former Member of Parliament for Salford, he championed Distributism as an alternative to capitalism and socialism while publishing over 150 works across poetry, biography, travel, and political commentary. He died in 1953 in Guildford, England, leaving behind a legacy of controversial yet accomplished contributions to Edwardian letters.
