Hermann Schubert

Hermann Cäsar Hannibal Schubert (1848–1911) was a German mathematician and a leading developer of enumerative geometry, a field of algebraic geometry involving finite numbers of solutions. He founded Schubert calculus, which remains named in his honor, and won a prize in 1874 for solving a problem posed by Zeuthen.
