Herman Gorter

Herman Gorter was a Dutch poet, classical scholar, and communist theorist, best known as a leading member of the Tachtigers and for his epic poem *Mei* (1889). After 1897, he became a committed Marxist and an influential figure in the international communist left.[1][2]
