Herbert H. Paper

Herbert H. Paper was a linguist and scholar born on January 11, 1925, in Baltimore, Maryland, who began college at Yeshiva University at age 15 and earned a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1951.[1][2][3] He taught at the University of Michigan and Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in Cincinnati, where he served as Dean of Graduate Studies and later became Professor Emeritus of Linguistics and Near Eastern Languages, editing the Hebrew Union College Annual.[3] Specializing in Persian studies, ancient Iranian languages, and Yiddish literature, he died on January 23, 2012.[3][8]
