Herb Appenzeller

Herb Appenzeller (1925-2018) was an American football coach, college athletics administrator, professor, and author known as the 'Father of Sports Law.' A native of Newark, New Jersey, he played football and track at Wake Forest University, coached at high schools and Chowan College, and served nearly 40 years at Guilford College as head football coach (1956-1962), athletics director (31 years), and professor, during which teams won three national championships and 31 conference titles.[1][3][5]
