Henry Rider Haggard

Sir Henry Rider Haggard (1856–1925) was an English author renowned for his adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations, particularly Africa, including the pioneering lost world genre with works like King Solomon's Mines (1885) and She (1887).[1][3] Born into a family of landowners in Norfolk, he spent time in South Africa in his youth, where political experiences influenced his writing, and later advocated for land reform in the British Empire.[2][1] Knighted in 1912, his Allan Quatermain series and other novels remain influential in adventure literature.[1][5]
