Henry Cockton

Henry Cockton (1807–1853) was an English humorous novelist born in London, the second of three brothers. He is best known for his first and most successful work, 'Valentine Vox the Ventriloquist,' published in monthly numbers and later in book form in 1840. Cockton wrote several other novels, including 'The Sisters, or the Fatal Marriages' (1851), 'Lady Felicia' (1852), and 'Percy Effingham' (1852), but struggled financially throughout his career.
