Henry Brougham Guppy

Henry Brougham Guppy (1854–1926) was a British surgeon, geologist, botanist, and photographer who served in the Royal Navy and explored the Pacific, including the Solomon Islands in 1882 aboard HMS Lark. He authored influential works such as 'The Solomon Islands and Their Natives' (1887) and 'The Solomon Islands: Their Geology, General Features, and Suitability for Colonization' (1887), earning the Linnean Medal in 1917 for his contributions to natural history. He died en route from Tahiti to Britain aboard the SS El Kantara while moored at Martinique.
