Helen H. Perlman

Helen Harris Perlman (1905–2004) was a pioneering U.S. social work educator and the founder of the 'Chicago School' of social work, known for developing the problem-solving model in clinical social casework. She earned her BA from the University of Minnesota in 1926 and her master's in social work from Columbia in 1943, later teaching at the University of Chicago from 1945 until her death. Her influential 1957 book, 'Social Casework: A Problem-Solving Process,' became a foundational textbook for social work practitioners.
