Healey Willan
James Healey Willan (1880-1968) was an Anglo-Canadian organist, composer, and educator who became a dominant figure in Canadian musical life for over half a century. Immigrating to Canada in 1913, he taught at the Toronto Conservatory and University of Toronto while serving as organist-choirmaster at St. Mary Magdalene Church from 1921 until his death. He composed approximately 800-850 works across multiple genres, with his sacred and liturgical music earning him the title 'Dean of Canadian Composers.'
