Harry Gruyaert

Harry Gruyaert, born in 1941 in Antwerp, Belgium, is a pioneering Belgian photographer renowned for his masterful use of color in capturing everyday scenes with a cinematic aesthetic. Initially trained in film and photography in Brussels, he worked as a director of photography for Flemish television before dedicating himself to color photography in the 1970s, inspired by travels to Morocco and influences from American photographers. A Magnum Photos member since 1982, his works including 'Made in Belgium,' 'Morocco,' and 'East/West' explore beauty in light, color, and place across Europe, India, and beyond.
