Harry Emerson Fosdick

Harry Emerson Fosdick was a prominent American liberal Protestant minister, teacher, and author who served as the founding pastor of New York City's interdenominational Riverside Church. He became a central figure in the fundamentalist-modernist controversy within American Protestantism during the 1920s and 1930s, earning recognition as one of the most influential leaders of early 20th-century liberal Christianity. Fosdick was also known for his work on the National Vespers radio program and his advocacy for reason and common sense in religious faith.
