Harriet Ziefert
Harriet Ziefert, born in 1941 in North Bergen, New Jersey, is a prolific author of hundreds of children's books, including bestsellers like *A New Coat for Anna* and *Sleepy Dog*, and the founder and publisher of Blue Apple Books in Maplewood, New Jersey. A graduate of Smith College with a master's degree in education from New York University, she worked as an elementary school teacher and developed school materials before focusing on writing and packaging easy-to-read picture books for young children.[1][2][5]
