Harold Horwood
Harold Horwood was a Canadian author, union organizer, and politician born in St. John's, Newfoundland in 1923. He worked as a union organizer from 1946-1948, served in Newfoundland's House of Assembly from 1949-1952, and later became a muckraking journalist and award-winning author. He was also a founder of a counterculture free school in the 1960s and wrote extensively on Canadian history, including works on pirates, outlaws, and Newfoundland culture.
