Harold 1867-1946 Peake

Harold John Edward Peake (1867-1946) was a British archaeologist, anthropologist, and independent scholar who served as President of the Royal Anthropological Institute from 1926 to 1928 and as curator of the Newbury Museum (also known as West Berkshire Museum). Son of the Rev. John Peake, Vicar of Ellesmere, he dedicated his life to intellectual pursuits, public service in Newbury—including roles as chairman of local institutions—and collaborative works like 'The Corridors of Time' with Herbert John Fleure. He remained active in research until his death, opposing Nazi interpretations of early history.
