Hans Petter Langtangen

Hans Petter Langtangen (1962–2016) was a Norwegian scientist and professor specializing in mechanics and scientific computing. He directed the Centre for Biomedical Computing at Simula Research Laboratory, served as a professor at the University of Oslo, and was editor-in-chief of SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing from 2011 to 2015. Renowned for his contributions to computational methods, software development like the Diffpack library, and innovative teaching of programming in science education, he authored influential books on Python for scientific computing.
