Hans Christian Andersen
Hans Christian Andersen was a Danish author born in 1805 in Odense to poor parents, who rose from humble beginnings to become a master of the literary fairy tale. Best known for timeless stories like 'The Little Mermaid,' 'The Ugly Duckling,' and 'The Emperor's New Clothes,' he also wrote novels, plays, poems, and travel books. His fairy tales, first published in 1835, gained worldwide acclaim and remain among the most translated works in literary history.
