Hagstom Map Company
The Hagstrom Map Company was founded by Andrew Hagstrom, a Swedish immigrant who arrived in the United States in 1916, and became the best-selling brand of road maps in the New York City metropolitan area from the mid-20th to early 21st century, based in Maspeth, Queens.[1][3] Known for its innovative maps with exaggerated widths of main roads and iconic New York City subway maps starting in the 1940s, the company expanded coverage to suburban areas in Long Island, New Jersey, and Connecticut.[2][3][4] Acquired by Kappa Publishing Group in 2009, production moved to Deland, Florida, and the company became defunct in 2022 as a division of Kappa Map Group.[1]
