Gustave J Stoeckel

Gustave J. Stoeckel (1819–1907) was a German-American organist, music teacher, composer, and author best known for his long career at Yale University, where he served as Yale’s first music professor. After leaving Germany following the failed Revolution of 1848, he settled in New Haven and helped establish Yale’s musical life, including conducting the Yale Glee Club and composing operas, a symphony, and other works.
