Glendon Swarthout
Glendon Fred Swarthout (1918-1992) was an American writer and novelist who authored more than 20 novels, numerous short stories, plays, and film scripts. He was renowned for his western fiction, with seven of his 16 published novels adapted into films, including The Shootist (John Wayne's final film) and Where the Boys Are. Before becoming a full-time writer, he taught English at several universities and was twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in fiction.
