Gladys Mary Coles

Gladys Mary Coles (1935–2024) was a British poet, novelist, biographer, publisher, editor, and creative writing tutor who published nine poetry collections, a novel, and several anthologies.[1][4] She was a leading authority on Mary Webb, authoring the standard biography *Flower of Light* (1978), editing *Selected Poems of Mary Webb* (2001), and serving as president of the Mary Webb Society from 1989 until her death.[1] Born in Liverpool with connections to Ruthin in Denbighshire, she taught creative writing at Liverpool University.[3]
