Gillian Shields

Gillian Shields was born and brought up in Yorkshire, northern England, where she developed passions for books and theater, leading her to study English at St. Catharine's College, Cambridge, and acting in London.[1][2] She taught drama at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts, becoming Vice Principal, and later English and Drama at Beechwood Sacred Heart girls’ boarding school, before turning to writing children's books inspired by her own children.[1][4] She is known for the Immortal series, Mermaid S.O.S., and picture books like Ben and Gran and the Whole, Wide, Wonderful World.[2][8]
