Gilbert Stenger

Gilbert Stenger (1836-1913) was a French journalist, novelist, and historian born in Gannat. Despite suffering from deafness that hindered his formal education, he became editor-in-chief of Le Journal de l’Aisne, authored successful novels on social themes after the 1870 war, and published the acclaimed six-volume work La Société Française pendant le Consulat (1903-1908).[5]
