Gilbert Hackforth-Jones

Commander Frank Gilbert Hackforth-Jones (1900-1982) was a British naval officer, author, playwright, and scriptwriter whose works often drew from his extensive sea experiences, including service in World War I on the Empress of India and submarine duty. Born the ninth of ten children and trained at Osborne and Dartmouth Naval Colleges, he rose to Commander, served in China, retired in 1936, and turned to writing novels, children's books, and screenplays like The Baby and the Battleship. A passionate yachtsman, he co-authored works with his wife Margaret and produced sailing-themed literature alongside mysteries and naval stories.
