Germaine Bree

Germaine Brée was a French-born scholar, critic, and educator best known for her influential work on 20th-century French literature, especially writers such as Camus, Sartre, Proust, and Gide. She taught at several universities in the United States, including Wake Forest University, and was widely credited with helping introduce modern French literature to American readers and scholars.
