Gerald McMaster

Gerald Raymond McMaster, CM (born 9 March 1953 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan), is a Plains Cree artist, curator, author, and scholar of the Siksika Nation from Red Pheasant First Nation.[1][2][3] He has significantly advanced the recognition of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit art through curatorial work at institutions like the Art Gallery of Ontario, Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian, and Remai Modern, while serving as Professor Emeritus at OCAD University.[1][4][5] McMaster holds a BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, an MA in Anthropology from Carleton University, and a PhD from the University of Amsterdam.[2][3]
