Georgia A. Johnson
Georgia Douglas Johnson (1880–1966) was an American poet, playwright, and key figure in the Harlem Renaissance, recognized as one of the earliest female African-American playwrights. Born Georgia Blanche Douglas Camp in Atlanta, Georgia, she published four poetry collections including The Heart of a Woman (1918) and Bronze (1922), and wrote nearly 30 plays addressing themes of race, love, motherhood, and social issues. She hosted a prominent literary salon in Washington, D.C., mentored emerging writers, and worked in government and education after her husband's death.
