George T. Wright

George T. ('Ted') Wright was an American literary scholar and Regents Professor Emeritus of English at the University of Minnesota, where he taught from 1968 until his retirement in 1993, serving as department chair from 1974 to 1977. He authored influential books on Shakespeare's metrical art, poets like W.H. Auden, Yeats, Eliot, and Pound, and figures such as Keats and Henry James. Wright passed away at age 93 on May 1, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky.
