George Saunders
George Saunders is an acclaimed American writer best known for his short story collections such as CivilWarLand in Bad Decline (1996) and Tenth of December (2013), and his novel Lincoln in the Bardo (2017), which won the Booker Prize. Born in Amarillo, Texas, he earned a degree from the Colorado School of Mines, worked as a geophysicist and engineer, and later obtained an MFA from Syracuse University, where he now teaches as a professor of English. Saunders has received numerous awards, including a MacArthur Fellowship in 2006 and the PEN/Malamud Award in 2013.
