George R R Martin
George Raymond Richard Martin, born September 20, 1948, in Bayonne, New Jersey, is an American author best known for his epic fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire, which was adapted into the HBO series Game of Thrones.[1][2] He began writing young, selling his first professional story in 1971, debuted his first novel Dying of the Light in 1977, and has won multiple Hugo and Nebula Awards.[3][4] Martin graduated from Northwestern University with degrees in journalism and later moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to write full-time.[1]
