George Kennan

George Frost Kennan (1904–2005) was an American diplomat and historian best known for advocating the policy of containment to oppose Soviet expansion during the Cold War. His 'Long Telegram' in 1946 and the 1947 'X' article shaped U.S. foreign policy, including the Truman Doctrine and Marshall Plan. A prolific author, he won Pulitzer Prizes for works like Russia Leaves the War (1956) and Memoirs, 1925–1950 (1967).[1][2]
