George Herbert 1881- Cowling

George Herbert Cowling (1881–1946) was an English literary scholar born in Leeds, Yorkshire, who served as a Lecturer in English at the University of Leeds and later as Professor of English at the University of Melbourne.[2][4] He had broad literary interests and authored Music on the Shakespearian Stage (1913), the first comprehensive treatment of music in Shakespeare's plays.[1][3][4]
